On 14 March, Pi Day was celebrated around the world, dedicated to one of the most well-known numbers in mathematics – π (Pi). The date was chosen because its American – and Lithuanian – format, 3/14, corresponds to the first digits of π Pi – 3,14.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Vilnius University has its own endowment sub-fund and invites the public, faculty partners, and the Alumni community to contribute to the education and development of future specialists in mathematics, data science, informatics, and software engineering, as well as future mathematics and informatics teachers.

Professor Artūras Dubickas, Academician and Head of the Department of Probability Theory and Number Theory at the Institute of Mathematics, part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Vilnius University, has been awarded the Lithuanian Science Prize for his body of work “Problems on the Distribution of Algebraic Numbers and Their Applications” (2010–2024). The prizes were announced on 3 February, and laureates were honoured at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences on 5 March.

The aim of the conference is to allow young people to present their MSc thesis research to colleagues from other universities. The event is open to a wide range of research and applications in computer science and IT. The conference is organised by the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies of VU MIF and the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
