Vilnius University is one of Europe's oldest and most beloved universities, boasting beautiful architecture and a host of famous alumni. Vilnius University is located in the heart of Vilnius, home to one of the largest and best-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city has an array of fantastic nightlife, restaurants, and eccentric neighbourhoods to explore.
Unique aspects of VU
Throughout Cybernews Academy’s independent review of our university, they showcase a range of features unique to Vilnius University that cannot be found anywhere else. We have our very own Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in collaboration with Neurotechnology. This space allows researchers and students to collaborate with businesses focussing on artificial intelligence. Our university has its own Tech Hub, which promotes cross and international collaboration. We host seminars, conferences, practical workshops, hackathons, and more. We are also one of the first Central European institutions to join the IBM Quantum Network. This allows the academic community to utilize quantum technologies and facilitates new developments in science and technology. VU is also a part of ARQUS, the European University Alliance that has come together with eight other universities, creating a university without barriers.
Bachelor’s computing programs
Our University offers two bachelor’s computing programs taught in English. Cybernews highlights these courses and discusses the reasons for choosing these programs. These courses focus on a mixture of compulsory modules and electives. The duration of these programs is seven semesters, and all courses will culminate into a bachelor’s thesis. Through these degrees, you will learn the fundamentals of Information Systems and Cyber Security or obtain knowledge surrounding Software Engineering. These bachelor's degree programs host a range of benefits, from learning competitive skills needed for the industry to internship opportunities in Lithuania and internationally.
Master’s computing programs
Cybernews Academy gives a detailed overview of the different master’s programs we provide at VU. Our university offers four master’s computing programs taught in English. These courses comprise compulsory and elective subjects. This course will be three semesters long, and all courses will culminate into a master’s thesis. Depending on the degree you choose, you will gain an understanding of Computer Modelling, Data Science, Informatics, Software Engineering, Deeptech Entrepreneurship, and Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies.
Entry and admission
Vilnius University has an acceptance rate of 41%, making it a diverse and accessible university. The general entry requirements include relevant documentation, supplementation transcripts, motivational letters, language proficiency tests, and an application fee. For certain courses like Computer Modelling, there are additional requirements you must consider before applying.
