The New Arqus joint Master’s programme in International Cybersecurity and Cyber Intelligence is now open for applications. The joint programme brings together the expertise and academic excellence of four Arqus universities (the Universities of Granada, Minho, Padua, and Vilnius) and is offered entirely in English.The second semester of the study programme will be conducted at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Vilnius University.
Lithuanian researchers believe that if we want to prevent the disappearance of the Lithuanian language, it should become a language used not only by us, but also by state-of-the-art technology. Our researchers have already made a significant progress in the field of speech recognition technology, which can help home assistants to start speaking Lithuanian. What’s it all about? Speech recognition is when a computer recognises what we say. This technology should not be confused with other technologies such as voice recognition, where a device recognises and identifies the voice of a particular person, and language identification, which means that a machine identifies what language (English, Lithuanian, etc.) a person is speaking.
On December 8th, the establishment contract of the “Bebras International” was signed at Vilnius University (VU). The establishment of the association was endorsed by representatives of institutions who met in person and signed the document. These representatives included VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Professor Javier Jesus Bilbao Landache from University of the Basque Country, Eljakim Schrijvers, Director of the Computer Science Olympiad Foundation in the Netherlands (Stichting Informatica Olympiade), Prof. Sébastien Combéfis, Founder of the organisation “Computer Science and IT in Education ASBL”, and Professor Jiří Vaníček from the South Bohemian University.
