“Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics” UAB in cooperation with Vilnius University invites prospective first year master students from VU Life Sciences Center, Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics to prepare Master final thesis and Bachelor final thesis at the Company.

For Master’s degree students, the scholarship amount is EUR 2,200 per academic year (paid in equal monthly installments). For students preparing their final theses over 2 years, provided their academic performance does not deteriorate, a total scholarship of EUR 4,400 may be awarded. If the thesis defense takes place in January, the scholarship in the second year amounts to EUR 1,100, making the total sum EUR 3,300.

For Bachelor’s degree students, the scholarship amount is EUR 1,200 per academic year (paid in equal monthly installments). For students preparing their final theses over 2 years, provided their academic performance does not deteriorate, a total scholarship of up to EUR 2,400 may be awarded.

When awarding the scholarship, the following criteria are taken into account:

  • For Master’s degree students – the evaluation of the Bachelor’s thesis (or final exams) and a weighted average grade of at least 8 in the main field (branch) of study;
  • For Bachelor’s degree students – a weighted average grade of at least 5 for the last two examination sessions;
  • Motivation and practical research skills.

This nominal scholarship does not impact students’ chances to receive other scholarships from the State, Vilnius University, “Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics” or other.

Application deadlines:

  • Master’s degree, 1st-year students must submit their applications no later than September 27, 2025 (inclusive).
  • Bachelor’s degree, 3rd–4th-year students must submit their applications no later than September 15, 2025 (inclusive).

For the competition, students must submit the following documents by email:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • Master’s students – a motivation letter indicating up to 3 preferred research groups in which they would like to prepare their final thesis.   • Bachelor’s students – a motivation letter indicating the research directions of the final thesis they would like to prepare at UAB Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics. All proposed directions are listed in the scholarship competition regulations for the 2025–2026 academic year. [Insert link to Bachelor’s conditions]
  • Master’s students – copies of the Bachelor’s diploma and diploma supplement;
  • Bachelor’s students – a transcript of completed semesters showing the weighted grade point average, and a copy of the secondary school leaving certificate supplement (with state exam results);
  • Copy of other achievements, such as scientific and/or social activities (e.g. participations in scientific competitions, tournaments and other;
  • A recommendation from a University department supervisor, research group leader, or employer would be considered an advantage.
