Are you a Master's student, or have you already completed your Master's degree? Would you like to present your Master's thesis research to colleagues from other universities? Participate in the scientific conference "Lithuanian MSc Research in Informatics and ICT", which will take place on May 10, 2023, at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (Gedimino pr. 3, Vilnius). The conference is open to the presentation of a wide range of research and applications in the field of informatics and IT.
The New Arqus joint Master’s programme in International Cybersecurity and Cyber Intelligence is now open for applications. The joint programme brings together the expertise and academic excellence of four Arqus universities (the Universities of Granada, Minho, Padua, and Vilnius) and is offered entirely in English. The second semester of the study programme will be conducted at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Vilnius University.
Lithuanian researchers believe that if we want to prevent the disappearance of the Lithuanian language, it should become a language used not only by us, but also by state-of-the-art technology. Our researchers have already made a significant progress in the field of speech recognition technology, which can help home assistants to start speaking Lithuanian. What’s it all about? Speech recognition is when a computer recognises what we say. This technology should not be confused with other technologies such as voice recognition, where a device recognises and identifies the voice of a particular person, and language identification, which means that a machine identifies what language (English, Lithuanian, etc.) a person is speaking.
On December 7th, the Cyber Security Laboratory researchers from Vilnius University (VU), in collaboration with global counterparts, unveiled the outcomes of the three-year ADVANCES initiative to the public. The conference, titled Stronger Together - Collaboration in Building Cyber Resilience, marked the conclusion of this significant project with relevance to the realms of science, information technology, and the broader community.
On December 8th, the establishment contract of the “Bebras International” was signed at Vilnius University (VU). The establishment of the association was endorsed by representatives of institutions who met in person and signed the document. These representatives included VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Professor Javier Jesus Bilbao Landache from University of the Basque Country, Eljakim Schrijvers, Director of the Computer Science Olympiad Foundation in the Netherlands (Stichting Informatica Olympiade), Prof. Sébastien Combéfis, Founder of the organisation “Computer Science and IT in Education ASBL”, and Professor Jiří Vaníček from the South Bohemian University.
The phrase “insider threats” is sometimes used in the public domain when talking about cyber security in organisations. But do we often think about what is behind this phrase? Insider threats are people who have or have had access to an organisation's assets or resources and whose actions could cause reputational or financial damage to the organisation. These resources could be sensitive customer data such as health records, sales and purchase transactions or the organisation's intellectual property.
We invite VU students to participate in the ISEP (International Student Exchange Programs) exchange program selection and spend 2024-2025 academic year Fall semester or Academic year at a university in the United States America or another country of your choice.
