You should address the Academic Ethics Commission if you have complaints about the actions of academic community members working or studying in the Faculty or the Faculty's administrative staff violating VU academic ethics. The Faculty's Academic Ethics Commission investigates disputes related to academic ethics and employment relations.

Members of the Academic Ethics Commission:

Submission of applications

The application must be submitted no later than one month from the date the violation of academic ethics was committed or the circumstances of it have emerged. This deadline may be extended by decision of the Commission, if the applicant had essential reasons for missing the deadline and submitted a motivated request, but only if no more than six months have passed since the violation was committed or the circumstances of it have emerged.
Applications are submitted via e.Student account (Complaint (Plea) to the Academic Ethics Committee of Faculty).

You should address the Dispute Resolution Commission when you wish to submit a statement regarding an appeal or dispute related to scientific and study activities between University students and other community members working in the Faculty.

Types of complaints (pleas) and deadlines for their submission

1. The complaints (pleas) due to the final assessment, except for the evaluation of final exams and Thesis defense (also do not include midterm evaluations), must be filed within 7 calendar days after the exam‘s evaluation was announced;

2. The complaints (pleas) due to the procedural violation must be filed within 3 working days after the midterm assessment, exam assessment, final exam assessment, or Thesis defense.


How to file the complaints (pleas)

Complaints (pleas) are submitted via the VU Students Information System: Student -> e.Application -> Complaint, plea -> Complaint (Plea) to the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Faculty.

The complaint (plea) must state:

  • Applicant‘s name, surname, main study programme, email address provided by Vilnius University, telephone number*;
  • Name of the study subject (module), lecturer(s), and the type of complaint (plea) (whether it is filed due to the final assessment, the procedural violation, or both);
  • Base for the complaint (plea) (circumstances, justifying the applicant‘s disagreement with the final assessment or the specific violation of the procedure);
  • Specific applicant‘s complaint (plea) (e.g., to change the final assessment to provide an opportunity to retake the exam, etc.);
  • Applicant‘s signature, when the complaint (plea) is filed not via the Information System of Vilnius University (VU IS)*.

*Necessary to indicate if the complaint (plea) is filed not via VU IS.
