History of Econometric Competition
This is the fifth Econometric Competition organized by the Deparment of Econometric Analysis and the second international competition.
The first was held on April 5th, 2008 in Vilnius. It was organized by the Departament of Econometric Analysis and "Euromonitor International". Eleven teams participated in the first competition. The teams represented the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. The first task was related to Lithuanian macroeconometric model. The team named "SUPER CRUNCHERS", which consisted of the students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Miglė Martusevičiūtė, Neringa Urnikytė and Mantas Tartėnas (first year master's students), won the first place that year.
The second Econometric Competition took place on April 3-4, 2009 in Vilnius. The competition was organized by the Departament of Econometric Analysis, "Euromonitor International" and "Creditinfo Lietuva". That year 17 teams from 4 universities took part in the competition. Most students were from Vilnius University, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics and Šiauliai University. There were also participants from ISM (University of Management and Economics in Vilnius) and University of Cambridge. The first place won the team named "StaPuGa". This team consisted of Sigita Galaunytė, Julius Stakėnas and Natalija Puzanskaja (the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, first year master's students). The theme of the competition was devaluation in Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia).
The third Econometric Competition (and first international) took place on March 29-30, 2010 in Vilnius. The sponsors of the competition were "Euromonitor International" , "Creditinfo Lietuva", “Terra Markets AS” and “The Lithuanian Statistical Society“. In this competition participated 10 teams from Vilnius University (the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Economics), University of Management and Economics in Vilnius, University of Management and Economics in Vilnius, Kaunas University of Technology, University of Lodz (Poland), Belarusian State University (Belarusia). The task of the competition was “Electricity and Economic Development”. The winners of this competition was team „e4“, which consisted of Aleksandra Iljina, Indrė Montvilaitė, Vladimir Voitechovič, Raimondas Malukas (Vilnius University, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics).
The fourth Econometric Competition took place on May 7-8, 2011 in Vilnius. The sponsor of this competition was "Euromonitor International". In this competition participated 4 teams from Vilnius University. The first place won the team “≈201.3572” (Eglė Grublytė, Renata Rabovič, Simas Kučinskas – Vilnius University , the Faculty of Economics).
