The Vilnius University awards for significant scientific achievements in 2025 have been announced, recognising the authors of the best scientific publications.

In the category of best publication in the natural, technology, medical, health, and agricultural sciences, the award has been granted to Dr. Linas Stripinis and Prof. Dr. Remigijus Paulavičius from the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies at Vilnius University Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (VU MIF DMSTI), for the publication "Benchmarking derivative-free global optimization algorithms under limited dimensions and large evaluation budgets."
The publication, which presents a comprehensive benchmarking study of 25 optimization algorithms, was co-authored by Dr. Jakub Kůdela, Associate Professor at Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic).
The results offer evidence-based guidance for practitioners and researchers addressing complex real-world optimization challenges.
