UNESCO Associated Centre of Excellence
for Research and Training in Basic Sciences
at Vilnius University

To conduct research and development seeking for the improvement of research and education in basic sciences as well as of the quality of life, health care, environmental protection, and communication in the information society.
To assist international efforts to develop new technologies.
To provide training in research, application and teaching of basic sciences, and especially of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, photochemistry, nonlinear optics, laser spectroscopy, as well as computer science and computational mathematics.
To promote the exchange of information and skills between researchers, intergovernmental, non-governmental organizations, and UNESCO Associated Centres in basic sciences.
To foster national, sub-regional, regional and international activities through the conferences, workshops, round tables, and symposia.
