This course covers the issues and techniques involved in the early phases of software engineering. In lectures and small sample project we will treat the following topics:

• position of requirements engineering within software engineering;
• IEEE standart for software specification;
• techniques for information gathering and user participation;
• the viewpoint of the customer (economic issues): strategies for information technology employment, business process reeingineering and modeling;
• the viewpoint of the users (work place issues): IT-supported work place, task analysis and design;
• the viewpoint of the developer (computer issues): human-computer interaction, user interface modeling and design, object-oriented analysis and design.
